James C. Ashworth, formally from Canterbury, NH, and Lutz, FL, and currently of Middlebury, VT, passed away after a long battle with Parkinson's at 76.

Jim was a man of many talents, graduating from Keene State College as an industrial arts teacher in 1969. His greatest joy was working with his hands. He built his family's timber frame home and restored many antique automobiles. He also converted buses into motorhomes and traveled throughout the country with his family. There wasn't anything he couldn't build or fix.

He served on the Canterbury Planning Board and as a selectman for two terms. Those positions showed him the need small towns had to computerize their voter checklists and property tax billing. So, he taught himself how to program a computer and offered his services as Municipal Computer Service, retiring in 2000.

He moved to Florida full-time in 2012, where he had a full life filled with great friends.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol O'Brien Ashworth, son James Ashworth II and daughter-in-law Amy Ashworth of Canterbury, daughter Lindsay George of Middlebury, VT, grandchildren Henry, Eva, and Luke Ashworth and sister Nancy Ashworth of Canterbury.
